Who Should Attend?
This full-day workshop is designed for parents of children who are entering the school system in the fall of 2010 and have special needs. Both parents are strongly encouraged to attend.
What will you learn?
The program will help parents develop strategies to assist their school board in addressing their child’s developmental or physical disabilities, speech and language problems or autism. Parents will explore effective communication strategies in advocating for their child, review the kindergarten curriculum, and discuss with school board personnel how their children’s needs are met. The roles and support systems involved in regular and special education services will be
clarified, including those involved in developing an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
